nb: i am well aware that the divine comedy is a difficult text to engage with, especially if you come from a cultural background different from my own (i mean in Italy you get some basics about the divine comedy in middle school! Because it's the text that essentially shaped the Italian language like it's nowadays) and you don't have therefore time and/or resources to spend on this specific topic. And it's absolutely fine! As i don't have neither time and/or resources to spend on idk, learning quantum physics. But i don't go around talking about quantum physics for this reason! Meanwhile people read a couple of funny posts on Tumblr and starts to act as if THOSE are the ultimate truth on the divine comedy??? It's a bit like the whole "biblically accurate angels" mess, where people started to say unironically that renaissance artists were stupid because "guys with wings aren't the real angels". (Ironically enough, i saw a comment saying that it was dante that popularized the so called "biblically accurate angels" ...). This post was to poke fun precisely at a take that often gets brought up aka that "dante was that arrogant to put in hell everyone that he disliked" when he literally went on length saying that humans can't absolutely comprehend the will of God and are often wrong in their judgement, hence why an extremely controversial political figure like Manfredi was in Purgatory and not in Hell like he was commonly thought because of the propaganda of the church of the time (to the point that Manfredi asks Dante to tell his daughter to pray for him and tell her that he's not in hell!!! ). It's literally in the text!!!!!
